THE PROCESS
DESIGN SELECTION
Our design selection process is designed to inform and explore the creative possibilities of your personalised made to order Kente cloth. In most cases, our clients may approach Kente Kingdom with a pre-selected kente design and colour palette, where our team can quickly translate your request into a tangible showmanship of beautiful Ghanaian Kente Cloth. If you have a specific design instruction i.e. a different colour variation or new design concept, please book a design consultation as part of your COMMISSIONED Atelier Service.
CONSULTATION, SOURCING AND SAMPLING (Optional)
In this stage of cloth production, we’ll explore your design selection, colour and yarns whilst considering fibre behaviour. This concept development stage is crucial to the quality and execution of your personalised kente cloth as we take into account, your chosen design weave structure & end-use, practicality, yarn characteristics as well as timescales for production. After finalising design concept, we’ll then proceed to source your yarns and begin production however for large quantity/ wholesale orders, a client may request a sample before production begins. Naturally, this may extend the overall timescale and delivery of your customised Kente Cloth.
At an additional fee of £200.00 (per cloth), clients may wish to incorporate this (optional) service into their personalised kente production service to mitigate unexpected colour and shade variants, as well as the overall look, feel and texture of the finished cloth. Please note that unless specifically requested, we do not include the consultation, sourcing & sampling service to your custom order. We do not take any responsibility for perceived colours, shade or dimension differences where a client decides to opt out of the design consultation and/ or sampling service.
FINAL PRODUCTION AND DELIVERY
This next and final stage is where true African artistry comes to life. Depending on design complexity and specification, your commissioned Kente cloth can be woven within two weeks before going through our rigorous quality control and inspection process. As such, it is crucial to allow a minimum of to 3 to 4 weeks from date of commission to delivery, although large quantity orders or complex designs may take longer. Orders with delivery addresses outside the United Kingdom may take up to 6 weeks for delivery. Where an order is expected to extend beyond the ‘normal’ delivery window, Kente Kingdom will make every reasonable effort to provide regular updates (including delivery tracking numbers) to our valued clientele.
